The bottom line

Best-in-class EMM for enterprises running diverse or rugged device fleets, but expect a steep setup curve and custom pricing.

Conversion Gems editorial verdict
From ~$4/device/mo (annual, custom quote)
Features8/10
8 - comprehensive multi-OS and rugged-device coverage; zero-touch enrollment; geofencing; remote control; few MDMs match its device breadth.
Value6/10
6 - competitive per-device floor (~$4/mo) but fully negotiated pricing adds procurement friction; modules and support tiers raise TCO.
Ease of use5/10
5 - steep learning curve, complex initial setup, and a non-intuitive API are consistent user complaints.
Ecosystem7/10
7 - native OEM integrations (Zebra, Apple, Samsung, Microsoft) and SOTI ONE platform components; third-party app integrations via API are cumbersome.
Support5/10
5 - slow support response times are a recurring criticism across review platforms; enterprise SLAs available at extra cost.

What it really is

SOTI MobiControl — enterprise mobility management (EMM/MDM) platform for securing and managing fleets of mobile and rugged devices.

Our take

MobiControl is SOTI's flagship EMM platform used by mid-to-large enterprises to manage Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and rugged devices across their full lifecycle. The DB lists $40/device/month — actual starting price is roughly $4/device/month on an annual subscription, with final pricing negotiated per contract. Category 'Security, Privacy & Backup' is broadly acceptable but this is specifically an MDM/EMM product.

Why we rate it

MobiControl earns its place in large enterprise stacks because of its unmatched rugged-device compatibility and mature zero-touch enrollment across every major OEM (Apple DEP, Android Zero-Touch, Samsung KME, Windows Autopilot, Zebra StageNow). For organizations running Zebra scanners or purpose-built kiosks, it is often the only MDM that handles everything natively.

The catch

Steep learning curve and complex initial configuration; customer support response times have been widely criticized; higher costs effectively exclude small businesses.

Best for
Enterprises managing large fleets of rugged/IoT devices (Zebra, barcode scanners, kiosks)
IT ops teams that need multi-OS EMM (Android, iOS, Windows, Linux) in one console
Industries requiring strict compliance and geofencing enforcement (logistics, healthcare, retail)
Not good for
Small businesses or startups — cost and complexity don't scale down
Teams needing quick self-serve setup with minimal IT overhead
Organizations with only standard consumer smartphones and no rugged endpoints
Friction report
Time to value
Slow: initial deployment requires significant configuration, policy design, and OEM enrollment setup before devices are under management.
Scale breakpoint
Per-device licensing costs compound quickly at thousands of devices; complex policy inheritance can become difficult to audit at scale.
Walled garden
Moderate: device configs, policies, and content workflows are tightly coupled to the SOTI console; migration to another EMM requires re-enrollment of all devices.
