Graphify turns a codebase and its docs into a knowledge graph that AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex can query over MCP. The command-line tool is free and open source under Apache 2.0; Graphify Labs also sells hosted plans, with Pro at $10 a month billed yearly.

The bottom line

Worth installing for large repos and agent-heavy workflows; skip it for small projects.

What it really is

An open-source code knowledge graph builder for AI coding assistants, with hosted plans from Graphify Labs.

Our take

Graphify answers a real problem: coding assistants forget a repository between sessions and burn tokens re-reading it. The free CLI maps the code locally and exposes it over MCP, so the assistant follows actual call paths. The token savings are the vendor's own figures, and a small repo has less to gain. Start with the free CLI and pay only if you want hosted graphs or team sharing.

Why we rate it

A free, local, open-source core with more than 123,000 GitHub stars and support for many assistants, plus a $10 paid tier.

The catch

CLI setup, LLM costs for non-code files, and token savings that are the vendor's own benchmark.

Best for
Developers using Claude Code, Cursor or Codex on large repos
Teams onboarding to unfamiliar codebases
Privacy-minded teams that want local parsing
Not good for
Small projects that already fit in an assistant's context
Non-technical users who want a GUI-only tool
Buyers who need a mature enterprise contract today
Friction report
Time to value
Low for developers: one install command and one /graphify run.
Scale breakpoint
Free hosted plan caps graph size at 25,000 nodes per repo and PR reviews at 15 a month.
Walled garden
Low: Apache 2.0 code, graph.json output and exports for tools like Obsidian and Neo4j.
