What it really isCloud identity software that gives an organization's people single sign-on, MFA and account lifecycle control, sold as per-user suites for staff and as a separate base-plus-usage product for customer apps.
Our takeOkta's pricing page is clear about how Workforce Identity is priced: per user, per month, billed annually, with a $1,500 minimum and quotes for the top two suites.
Customer Identity and Auth0 are separate lines with their own pricing. Match the features you need to a suite before comparing prices, and ask what each add-on costs on top of the per-user figure.
Why we rate itThree suite prices are public and the suite contents are listed, but the top tiers, add-ons and Customer Identity need a quote or a usage estimate.
The catchA $1,500 annual minimum, annual-only billing, quote-only top suites and a $3,000 monthly base platform for Customer Identity.

Trade-offs

Friction report

Trade-offs to know before signing up.

  1. Time to value
Starter has a Start free trial button and the trial runs 30 days; Okta lists no setup time.
  2. Scale breakpoint
Suites share one license count across products, with exceptions for Workflows, Privileged Access and Machine-to-Machine tokens, and Professional and Enterprise are quoted.
  3. Walled garden
Device Access, API Access Management and Access Gateway are listed in higher suites and as add-ons, and Customer Identity is a separate product with its own pricing.

Is Okta the same as Auth0?

Auth0's own site describes identity for customer sign-up and login.

Why do I have an Okta account?

Okta sells its software to organizations, and its help center says an app that is provisioned is added to the user's Okta End-User Dashboard automatically. If you did not expect an account, ask your IT or help desk, because Conversion Gems cannot see who set one up. Okta Verify, which Okta's help describes as a multifactor authentication app that confirms a sign-in with a push notification or one-time code, is a separate app that can also be set up for sites such as GitHub, Facebook or Google; the pages read do not compare it with Google Authenticator.

How do I log in to Okta?

Conversion Gems is a review site and cannot sign anyone in to Okta. Okta's Login link goes to https://login.okta.com/, which asks for your Okta organization URL, ending .okta.com, and has a Need help signing in? link; your IT team can tell you your organization's URL. Conversion Gems only read that page and did not use it.
