What it really is

RunCloud — cloud server management panel for VPS and dedicated servers.

Our take

RunCloud replaces command-line server administration with a clean GUI, letting developers provision Nginx/Apache stacks, PHP environments, MySQL/PostgreSQL, SSL, and Git deployments across all major cloud providers. DB listed $15/mo entry and showed pros/cons that belong to a WordPress performance plugin — not RunCloud; actual entry is $9/mo (Essentials). It fills the gap between bare-metal CLI management and heavy managed-hosting costs.

Why we rate it

RunCloud hits a real pain point: VPS pricing is cheap but raw Linux administration is not. It makes Nginx, PHP-FPM, and SSL setup a point-and-click affair while preserving enough low-level access for power users. The breadth of supported cloud providers and Git deployment support punch well above the entry price.

The catch

Advanced server monitoring (RAM, bandwidth graphs) and extra backup storage require higher tiers; per-server pricing stacks quickly for agencies managing many clients.

Best for
Developers self-hosting PHP/WordPress on VPS without sysadmin skills
Agencies managing multiple client servers from a single dashboard
Startups wanting managed-hosting-like simplicity at VPS cost
Not good for
Teams needing fully managed hosting with zero server responsibility
Non-PHP stacks (Node.js, Python, Ruby) as first-class citizens
Large enterprises requiring on-premise or air-gapped control panels
Friction report
Time to value
Fast — connect a cloud server and deploy a site within 15–30 minutes via the guided provisioning wizard.
Scale breakpoint
Per-plan server limits and separate backup storage fees make costs climb steeply beyond 5–10 servers.
Walled garden
Low — servers and data remain on your own cloud account; RunCloud is a management layer only, so exit is straightforward.
