Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) is Cisco's flagship SIEM platform, sold as a premium add-on to Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud Platform. The DB mislabels the product name as 'Security, Privacy & Backup' (a category tag) and incorrectly marks pricing as 'free_trial' — ES is strictly enterprise, custom-quoted, and requires a sales engagement. Two editions exist: Essentials (core SIEM plus AI Assistant and Detection Studio) and Premier (full TDIR with SOAR and UEBA bundled). Risk-Based Alerting is a standout differentiator, with Splunk claiming up to 90% alert volume reduction for SOC teams.

Splunk ES is the de-facto standard for mature SOC environments: deep log correlation, industry-leading threat intelligence via Cisco Talos, and ES 8.0's unified TDIR workflow close the loop from detection to automated response. For teams already on Splunk Cloud Platform, the ES upgrade path is natural and powerful.

No public pricing and no self-serve entry point — every deployment requires sales-led scoping. Ingest-based licensing means costs scale painfully with data growth; large environments routinely face six-to-seven figure annual bills. Complexity demands dedicated Splunk admin expertise.
