Adaptive from Workday, called Workday Adaptive Planning until 2026, is cloud software for budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning and consolidation. It is aimed at finance teams in mid-size and large companies. Workday publishes no prices: both packages are sold by quote, and a 30-day free trial is available on request.
Workday Adaptive Planning is now Adaptive from Workday
In 2026 Workday announced that Workday Adaptive Planning is becoming Adaptive from Workday. Workday's 27 May 2026 press release still used the old name, and the product pages and pricing page still use 'adaptive-planning' addresses.
The product started as Adaptive Insights, which Workday agreed to acquire in June 2018 for about $1.55 billion.

What it really is
Workday's enterprise planning and consolidation suite, formerly Adaptive Insights.
Our take
Adaptive from Workday is a strong pick for finance teams that need shared budgets, workforce plans and scenarios across a larger company, with consolidation available. It is sold by quote and Workday's own average rollout is 4.5 months, so smaller teams with simpler needs may get there faster with a lighter FP&A tool that publishes its price.
Why we rate it
Wide planning coverage, unlimited scenarios and 24/7 support from a large vendor.
The catch
No public prices and an average 4.5-month deployment, by Workday's own figure.
Best for
Enterprise FP&A teams
Workforce and headcount planning
Companies already using Workday
Not good for
Small teams wanting published prices
Teams needing to go live in weeks
Friction report
Time to value
Months: Workday cites a 4.5-month average deployment.
Scale breakpoint
Adding close and consolidation means the separate Close & Consolidation package.
Walled garden
Moderate: connects to any ERP or GL, but models and workflows live in Workday's platform.
