What it really is

An open-source, Airtable-style database with an app builder, automations and AI, available hosted or self-hosted.

Our take

Baserow's main draw is choice. You can start free in the cloud, pay per user as you grow, or run it yourself with no row limits. The feature set now goes well past tables, with apps, automations and AI. The free cloud plan is fine for trying it but narrow: three views, 3,000 rows and community-only help. Teams that self-host trade fees for server work.

Why we rate it

Generous free self-hosting, open-source code and a broad no-code feature set.

The catch

Free cloud is limited to 3 views and 3,000 rows, and direct support starts on Advanced.

Best for
Airtable users wanting lower cost
Self-hosted data control
Internal apps and portals
Not good for
Large-scale transactional apps
Teams needing fast vendor support on low tiers
Users who cannot run servers but need unlimited rows
Friction report
Time to value
Minutes in the cloud; longer if you self-host with Docker or Helm.
Scale breakpoint
Row caps per workspace (3,000 free, 50,000 Premium, 250,000 Advanced) push upgrades.
Walled garden
Low: open-source code, CSV export, and workspace export from Baserow Cloud to a self-hosted install.
