What it really isA cloud directory and IT management platform that handles user identities, sign-on, MFA and device management for company IT teams.
Our takeJumpCloud calls itself an AI-powered unified IT management platform and sells its directory as a replacement for legacy Active Directory.
Its pricing page prices 18 single features but sends all three packages to sales. Expect a contract that renews automatically, and check which package holds each feature before choosing between single features and a package.
Why we rate itThe platform is broad and single features have list prices, but the packages need a sales contact and the terms renew orders automatically.
The catchPackages show no price, Platform Essentials stops at 300 users, and orders renew automatically unless notice is given 30 days before the term ends.

  • Small teams that need one feature and can use the listed per-user price

  • Teams that want a permanent free plan
  • Organizations that need to see which feature sits in which package without a demo
Trade-offs

Friction report

Trade-offs to know before signing up.

  1. Time to value
The pricing page offers a 30-day trial and in-product checkout; managed computers need the JumpCloud Agent installed, and mobile devices enrol through MDM instead. JumpCloud's pages give no setup time.
  2. Scale breakpoint
Platform Essentials is capped at 300 users, and Zero Trust, AI and SaaS management and premium support appear only in the Platform Prime description.
  3. Walled garden
Premium support is part of Platform Prime's description and a $2 or $3 per user add-on in the single-feature list.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is JumpCloud used for?

IT teams use JumpCloud to give each person one identity and control what that person can reach: it provides a cloud directory, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, user lifecycle management, Cloud LDAP and RADIUS, and device management for Windows, Apple, Linux and Android devices. JumpCloud's own page describes the directory as an alternative to legacy Active Directory. Its pricing page also lists patch management, remote access, asset management and SaaS management as features admins can add.

How much does JumpCloud cost?

JumpCloud's three packages, Platform Essentials, Platform and Platform Prime, show Contact Sales instead of a price. Single features are priced on the same page: most cost $3 per user a month billed annually or $4 billed monthly, MDM and passwordless sign-in cost $5 or $6, Access Requests costs $5 either way and Premium Support costs $2 or $3. The page says prices exclude VAT (checked 2 November 2026).

Is JumpCloud free to use?

JumpCloud offers a 30-day free trial, and its pricing page lists no free plan. The page says the trial covers the full platform and includes 24x7 Premium Support. JumpCloud's fair use policy, effective 29 September 2026, says to ask your Account Manager for any trial extension before the trial period expires, and that a feature you keep using after a Free Testing period is added to your account as a month-to-month a la carte subscription (checked 2 November 2026).

Does JumpCloud track activity or record my screen?

The JumpCloud pages Conversion Gems read do not describe browsing-history tracking or screen recording. They describe device data an admin can see: System Insights covers local user accounts, software versions, patch history, memory, storage and uptime. Remote Access is a separate admin feature that lets an admin take control of a device and logs every session. What is switched on for your own laptop is your employer's choice, so ask your IT admin.

Who owns JumpCloud?

JumpCloud's terms of service name JumpCloud Inc., of 361 Centennial Parkway, Suite 300, Louisville, CO 80027, as the provider of the service. Its About page carries a quotation signed by Rajat Bhargava as CEO and says the company has raised more than $400 million since its seed funding, and its co-founders page says it acquired MYKI in February 2022. None of the first-party pages read names a parent company.

How do I log in to JumpCloud?

Conversion Gems is a review site and cannot sign anyone in to JumpCloud. JumpCloud's sign-in page is https://console.jumpcloud.com/login, which has Admin Login and User Login tabs, and its help center gives https://console.jumpcloud.com/userconsole as the User Portal. Conversion Gems only read the sign-in page and did not use it.
