Try TaxDome$1,500/yr incl. 150 active clients, 20 seats

TaxDome is practice management software for tax, bookkeeping and accounting firms, with a client portal and mobile app. Its pricing page now shows one plan priced by active clients: $1,500 a year, billed annually, covers the first 150 active clients and 20 team seats, and TaxDome's help center calls the older Essentials, Pro and Business per-seat plans legacy (checked 2 November 2026).

TaxDome has moved from seat plans to client-based pricing

TaxDome's help center says client-based pricing applies to firms that sign up on or after 2 November 2026, and that seat-based pricing is legacy for firms that signed up earlier. Those firms keep their plan and price until their first renewal on or after 1 January 2027, then move to the new pricing.

TaxDome's Terms of Service page said on 2 November 2026 that it is updating the terms to reflect recent changes to its plans and products, and that the updated version would be published soon. This page was checked on 2 November 2026; read TaxDome's pricing page and help center for later changes.

What it is, and why we rate it

One line each. Open a row for detail.

What it really isPractice management software for tax, bookkeeping and accounting firms, with a client portal and app, CRM, workflows and payments, priced by active clients.
Our takeTaxDome moved to one plan priced by active clients, from $1,500 a year, and its help center dates the change to 2 November 2026.
That is easy to budget for a firm with a few hundred active clients and a hard floor for a very small one. Existing firms move at their first renewal on or after 1 January 2027, so a firm on a legacy plan should ask TaxDome what its renewal will cost.
Why we rate itPrices and add-ons are published and the plan bundles the core features, but there is a $1,500 floor, annual upfront billing and a narrow refund policy.
The catchThe $1,500 minimum applies even below 150 active clients, billing is annual only, and the new model took effect on 2 November 2026 while the Terms of Service were still being updated.

Trade-offs

Friction report

Trade-offs to know before signing up.

  1. Time to value
Getting started begins with a one-on-one demo booked through Contact sales, and TaxDome offers paid guided onboarding and implementation help.
  2. Scale breakpoint
More than 20 team seats or more than 3,000 active accounts moves a firm to a custom plan quoted by sales.
  3. Walled garden
AI features, the public API and MCP access sit behind the $200-a-month AI add-on for US firms, and the white-labeled app is by quote.

From TaxDome's pricing page and its help center (client-based pricing, US/CA), checked 2 November 2026. The pricing page says an active client is one with any activity in the past 12 months; the help center ties activity to the plan year and restarts the count at renewal. TaxDome's pricing page FAQ says clients beyond 150 are priced in volume bands, from $15 each on their own down to $5 each in the largest band, and that it applies the lowest total for your size, so its examples come to less than $1,500 plus $15 for every extra client. Frequently Asked Questions

How much does TaxDome cost?

TaxDome's pricing page shows one plan from $1,500 a year, billed annually, covering the first 150 active clients and 20 team seats, about $0.83 per client per month. Active clients beyond 150 cost $15 each on demand, or less in packs bought when you subscribe or renew, according to the help center. TaxDome's own examples are $4,125 a year for 400 active clients, $9,000 for 1,000 and $16,500 for 3,000. AI ($200 a month), Managed Client Care ($100 a month) and Premium support ($249 a month) are optional extras, and Canada starts at CA$2,000 (checked 2 November 2026).

Are TaxDome's Essentials, Pro and Business plans still sold?

Not to firms that sign up from 2 November 2026, according to TaxDome's help center, which calls the seat-based plans legacy. Firms that signed up earlier keep their plan and price until their first renewal on or after 1 January 2027, then move to client-based pricing. The legacy US prices in the help center are per seat per year: Essentials $800 to $700, Pro $1,000 to $900 and Business $1,200 to $1,100, depending on a 1-, 2- or 3-year term (checked 2 November 2026).

What counts as an active client at TaxDome?

An active client, which the help center calls an active account, is a client with activity in TaxDome, such as an invoice, a job, a document upload, a portal login or a chat message. Each account is counted once and stays covered until the plan year ends. Spouses on one account count as one, but a personal return and a partnership return for the same person are two accounts. Importing a client list is free, and emails your firm sends do not make an account active. The pricing page words it as any activity in the past 12 months, while the help center ties it to the plan year and restarts the count at renewal, so ask TaxDome which applies to your firm.

Does TaxDome have a free trial or a free plan?

The pages Conversion Gems read describe neither a free plan nor a self-serve trial of the main plan. TaxDome's pricing page offers Request demo, and its sign-up article says getting started is a free one-on-one demo booked through Contact sales. Firms with fewer than 150 active clients are told pricing starts at 150, and the pricing FAQ says the $1,500 minimum applies even then. The US AI add-on has a 14-day free trial, according to the help center (checked 2 November 2026).

What does TaxDome do, and is it a CRM?

TaxDome's plan includes an unlimited CRM, alongside the rest of its practice management software for tax, bookkeeping and accounting firms. The pricing page lists a client app for web and mobile, client intake, document requests, tax return delivery, document storage, e-signatures, automations for tax and bookkeeping workflows, proposals and payments, and IRS transcripts. Features such as AI document organization and AI tax return delivery belong to the paid AI add-on.

How do I log in to TaxDome as a firm or as a client?

TaxDome's login page is https://app.taxdome.com/login, which offers Log in with Google or an email and password. Conversion Gems is a review site and cannot sign anyone in to TaxDome. TaxDome's site login menu separates Firms/practitioners from Clients, described as people who are clients of a firm that uses TaxDome, and the client portal app is listed on the App Store. Conversion Gems only read the login page and did not use it.
