What it really is

An open-source, Notion-style workspace for docs, wikis and projects that you can use in AppFlowy's cloud or self-host.

Our take

AppFlowy gets the basics of a modern workspace right and adds what Notion-style tools rarely offer: public source code, self-hosting and a local-AI option. The free tiers are mainly for trying it out, with two members on cloud and one seat when self-hosting, so plan on Pro or a self-hosted Team license for real team use. At $10 per member a month on yearly billing, it costs about the same as mainstream rivals while giving you more control over your data.

Why we rate it

Open source and self-hostable with a full-featured cloud option at mainstream prices.

The catch

Free use is limited to 2 cloud members or 1 self-hosted seat.

Best for
Teams that must self-host
Privacy-minded individuals
Notion users wanting open source
Not good for
Large teams wanting a free plan
Users needing many third-party app integrations
Friction report
Time to value
Short on cloud: download the app or sign in on the web; self-hosting needs server setup.
Scale breakpoint
A third cloud member requires Pro; a second self-hosted seat requires the Team plan.
Walled garden
Low: open-source code, self-hosting and Notion import.
