What it really is

A cloud-hosted remote monitoring and management platform for MSPs, owned by Kaseya.

Our take

Datto RMM covers what an MSP expects from an RMM: monitoring, patch policies, scripting, remote control and ransomware alerts, all in the cloud with an open API. It makes most sense if you already run Autotask PSA or other Kaseya tools. The weak point for buyers is transparency. There is no public price, so you cannot compare it with rivals until you have sat through a sales call.

Why we rate it

Broad RMM coverage with cloud hosting, an open API and native Autotask PSA integration.

The catch

Opaque pricing, and no support for Windows Home editions.

Best for
MSPs using Autotask PSA
IT teams managing mixed Windows, macOS and Linux fleets
Teams wanting cloud-only RMM
Not good for
Buyers needing a public price
Fleets with Windows Home devices
Single-site teams wanting simple patching only
Friction report
Time to value
Moderate: request a trial or demo, then deploy agents and build monitoring and patch policies.
Scale breakpoint
Cost grows with managed endpoints under your quote.
Walled garden
Medium: REST API is open, but deepest integration is with Kaseya and Datto products.
