Paylocity

Paylocity is cloud HR, payroll, finance and IT software for employers of 1 to 500+ employees, sold by quote after a demo request.

Our take: Paylocity covers a lot of ground and says its modules can be bought one at a time, but it shows no price and no free plan or trial, so the first answer on cost comes from a demo.

What it really isA cloud HR, payroll, finance and IT platform from Paylocity Holding Corporation, sold to employers by quote after a demo, with a free mobile app for their employees.
Our takePaylocity covers a lot of ground and says its modules can be bought one at a time, but it shows no price and no free plan or trial, so the first answer on cost comes from a demo.
Its own pages are clear about company size bands, logins and the app, and say little about contract terms.
Why we rate itBroad, well-described product range and a free app, held back by a price that cannot be seen before a demo and by missing contract and support-hour details.
The catchNo public price, no free plan or trial on the pages read, and a new-client payroll promotion whose terms sit on a separate page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Paylocity cost?

Paylocity does not publish prices. Its pricing page offers 'Request Pricing with a Free Demo' and its form asks for an employee count, with no dollar figure shown. Paylocity's FAQ says the HR, Finance and IT modules can be implemented one or more at a time, with add-ons such as Recruiting, Employee Voice and Learning (LMS) in the HR suite. Its home page also advertises a promotion for eligible new Payroll clients, one month of free payroll and free W-2s for 12 months in Phase 1, with separate terms (checked 4 November 2026).

Who uses Paylocity?

Employers of different sizes, according to Paylocity: its home page groups clients as Small Business (1-99 employees), Midsize Business (100-499) and Enterprise (500+). Its About page says more than 44,400 clients use it, and its Who We Serve pages list industries including education, healthcare, manufacturing, nonprofit, restaurants and hospitality, retail and wholesale, technology and government services. Its case studies page names the Dallas Stars, Utah Mammoth and Chicago Bulls.

Is Paylocity the same as ADP?

No, they are separate companies. Paylocity is made by Paylocity Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: PCTY), and ADP's own site names ADP, Inc. ADP's menu lists payroll, time and attendance, talent, benefits, HR services and HR outsourcing and PEO, so the two overlap in payroll and HR. Paylocity publishes a Paylocity vs. ADP page on paylocity.com, updated August 2026, that argues for itself; Conversion Gems makes no price or quality comparison here.

Is Paylocity a legitimate company?

Paylocity is a public company, so its identity and results are on record: Paylocity Holding Corporation is listed on Nasdaq as PCTY, and its investor site says it was founded in 1997 and has been publicly traded since 2014. Its 4 August 2026 results release covers the fiscal year that ended 30 June 2026, and the investor site lists SEC filings including a 10-K. That says who the company is, not how well the software suits you.

How do I log in to Paylocity?

Conversion Gems is a review site and cannot sign anyone in. Paylocity's Login link opens https://access.paylocity.com/. Paylocity's employee support page says the Company ID is the first field on the desktop login, and that a password is reset with Forgot Password on desktop or 'Forgot Your Password or Company ID' in the app. If that fails, it says to contact your employer.

Is there a Paylocity app?

Yes. Paylocity's mobile page says the app is free to download, but you need an active Paylocity account through your employer to use it. Paylocity links the iOS app at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/paylocity-mobile/id652438572 and tells Android users to search for Paylocity in Google Play. The same page says employees can clock in from the Punch section, and Apple Watch users can clock in with a tap.
