What it really is

A payables and receivables platform for small businesses and their accountants, with approvals and accounting sync.

Our take

Plooto does the core AP and AR jobs well for Canadian and US small businesses: approvals before money moves, many payment rails and sync to QuickBooks or Xero. Its fee table is unusually transparent. The subscription is only part of the bill, since every domestic payment carries a fee, and the $9 Go plan is reserved for clients of accounting firms.

Why we rate it

Clear approvals, broad payment rails and a fully published fee table.

The catch

Per-payment fees on every plan, and the cheapest plan is limited to firm clients and 5 payments.

Best for
Small businesses paying suppliers by EFT, ACH or cheque
Accounting firms running client payables
Teams on QuickBooks Online or Xero
Not good for
High-volume payers who want flat pricing
Global payouts beyond 40+ countries
Businesses wanting a free plan
Friction report
Time to value
Plooto says setup takes a few minutes; bank verification and accounting sync add steps.
Scale breakpoint
More than 5 domestic payments a month (Go) or a need for SSO and change controls (Pro).
Walled garden
Low: two-way sync with QuickBooks Online and Xero keeps records in your books.
