What it really is
ManageEngine's ITIL service desk and asset management suite, sold per technician in the cloud or for your own servers.
Our take
For an IT team that wants proper ITIL processes without ServiceNow-style sales cycles, ServiceDesk Plus is easy to price and easy to trial. Pick the edition carefully: change, problem and CMDB are only bundled in Enterprise, and adding them piecemeal to Standard or Professional adds up. Small teams should check whether five free technicians, with no support, is really enough.
Why we rate it
Full ITIL coverage with CMDB and ESM, a free small-team edition and public prices.
The catch
Key ITIL modules cost extra below Enterprise, and the free edition has no support.
Best for
Internal IT help desks
Teams that want cloud or on-premises choice
Organizations extending service desks to HR or facilities
Not good for
Customer-facing support teams
Teams that need 24/7 vendor support
Friction report
Time to value
Start a 30-day trial online; ITIL workflows, templates and asset discovery take setup time.
Scale breakpoint
Past five technicians, or once you need change management or a CMDB, you pay for a higher edition or add-ons.
Walled garden
Medium: REST API and marketplace extensions, with the deepest links to other ManageEngine products.
