What it really is

An open-source low-code platform for internal apps, with AI generation and paid cloud and enterprise tiers.

Our take

ToolJet fits teams that want internal tools on their own infrastructure, or that prefer paying per builder rather than per viewer. The free tiers work for a pilot, but the 50 end-user and 10 app caps arrive quickly and only Team lifts them. If you need workflows, plan on self-hosting.

Why we rate it

Open-source core, 100+ data sources, a built-in database and AI generation, with a free self-hosted option.

The catch

End users are capped at 50 below Team, workflows are self-hosted only, and monthly billing costs more than annual.

Best for
Admin panels and dashboards on your own data
Teams that must self-host
Teams that prefer per-builder pricing
Not good for
Apps for more than 50 users on Free, Basic or Pro
Teams that want workflows on ToolJet Cloud
Friction report
Time to value
Sign up free with no card, or run the Community Edition in Docker; AI can draft a first app from a prompt.
Scale breakpoint
Past 50 end users or 10 apps you need Team at $199 per builder per month on annual billing.
Walled garden
Low: open-source core, self-hosting, and Git sync on Team.
