What it really is
A web app for publishing clean, responsive charts, maps and tables from spreadsheet data.
Our take
Datawrapper made its name in newsrooms because it produces charts that read well on a phone with very little fiddling. The free plan is more than a demo: unlimited users, unlimited views, and embeds you can publish today. You pay to remove the credit line and to export vector files. If you need dashboards on live company data, look at a BI tool instead.
Why we rate it
A generous free plan and fast, mobile-friendly results with almost no learning curve.
The catch
Free charts carry a credit, vector export needs Pro, and custom themes cost $499 a month extra.
Best for
Newsrooms and publishers
Comms and research teams publishing reports online
Anyone who needs embeddable maps from a spreadsheet
Not good for
Interactive business dashboards
Teams that need slide-native charts inside PowerPoint
Friction report
Time to value
Minutes: paste data, pick a chart, publish.
Scale breakpoint
Removing attribution and vector export are per user on Pro; brand themes are a costly add-on.
Walled garden
Low: PNG export on Free, PDF/SVG on Pro, and embeds; Enterprise can self-host published visualizations.
