New Relic
New Relic is a cloud observability platform for engineering teams, free to 100 GB of data a month, then $0.40/GB plus per-user fees.
Our take: New Relic charges for two things: gigabytes ingested after the first 100 free each month, and users by type.
New Relic's cloud observability platform gathers metrics, logs and traces so engineering teams can monitor applications and infrastructure from one place. Its free tier is permanent and includes 100 GB of data ingest a month, one full platform user and unlimited basic users; beyond that, New Relic charges per GB ingested and per user, or for compute. The figures below are New Relic's own USD list prices, checked on 2 November 2026.
A well-documented, usage-priced platform whose free tier suits a small team and whose bill can be estimated from data volume and the number of engineers who need full access.

Best / not good for
- Small teams starting with one full user and 100 GB of data a month
- Teams that want APM, infrastructure and logs in one platform
- Teams that prefer not to be billed per host
- Teams that need a fixed all-in price, since Enterprise and compute are quote-only
- Large groups of engineers who all need full access on a tight budget
- Teams that cannot accept ingest stopping when a free limit is passed
Friction report
Trade-offs to know before signing up.
- Time to valueThe free tier needs no credit card, and the pricing page has a Get Started Free button.
- Scale breakpointStandard allows 5 full platform users; past that, Pro lists $349 per full user a month on an annual commitment.
- Walled gardenNew Relic says commitment fees stay payable even if you stop using the product, and its docs call list prices promotional and subject to change.

Example monthly bills at the published rates
| Team | Plan and data option | Calculation | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 engineer, 80 GB | Free | Within the 100 GB free tier | $0 |
| 3 full platform users, 150 GB | Standard, original data | Users $10 + $99 + $99 = $208; data (150 - 100) x $0.40 = $20 | $228 |
| 5 full platform users, 100 GB | Standard at its 5-user limit | Users $10 + 4 x $99 = $406; data within the free 100 GB | $406 |
| 5 full and 10 Core users, 500 GB | Pro, annual commitment, original data | 5 x $349 = $1,745; 10 x $49 = $490; data (500 - 100) x $0.40 = $160 | $2,395 |
| 5 full and 10 Core users, 500 GB | Pro, monthly pay as you go, original data | 5 x $418.80 = $2,094; 10 x $49 = $490; data $160 | $2,744 |
| 5 full and 10 Core users, 500 GB | Pro, annual commitment, Data Plus | $1,745 + $490; data (500 - 100) x $0.60 = $240 | $2,475 |
Arithmetic on the USD rates above, not prices New Relic quotes. It assumes no add-ons, no commitment discounts, no tax and no other billable users, and the Standard rows use the $10 first-user price that the docs label promotional. Checked 2 November 2026.
