QRCode Monkey

Free web QR code generator for static codes with logo, colours and PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS downloads; scan statistics and editing need a separate paid platform.

Our take: QRCode Monkey makes static QR codes at no charge, and its home page states there is no expiry, no scan limit and free commercial use.

Try QRCodeFree (static codes)

Yes: QRCode Monkey's QR code generator is free, and its own pages say the codes it makes are static, never expire, have no scan limit and can be used commercially. It does not edit a printed code or show scan statistics: the Get Started and Free Sign Up buttons lead to QR Code Generator, a separate paid platform with a 14-day trial whose legal notice names Bitly Europe GmbH. On the US list in that platform's own price data, plans start at $9.99 a month billed annually; visitors in other countries are shown other lists (checked 1 November 2026).

The bottom line

A good free choice when a fixed, styled QR code is the whole job; read the paid platform's terms and your country's price list before you click through.

What it is, and why we rate it

One line each. Open a row for detail.

What it really isA free web generator for static QR codes from QRCode Monkey GmbH, with buttons that lead to a separate paid platform for dynamic codes and scan statistics.
Our takeQRCode Monkey makes static QR codes at no charge, and its home page states there is no expiry, no scan limit and free commercial use.
It does not edit a printed code or show scan statistics; the site sends those needs to QR Code Generator, a separate platform with a 14-day trial whose legal notice and terms name Bitly. That platform's price list depends on the visitor's country, from $9.99 a month billed annually on the US list in its price data.
Why we rate itThe free terms are stated plainly on the vendor's own pages, but editing and scan statistics sit on a separate paid platform and the free site's support is an FAQ and an email address.
The catchThe codes are static, and the tracking and editing the buttons advertise belong to a separate paid platform whose prices depend on the visitor's country.

Best / not good for

Best for
  • One-off QR codes for print or screen that will not change
  • People who want a logo, colours and an SVG file without paying
  • Anyone who wants no scan limit and no expiry on a code
Not good for
  • Anyone who needs to change a printed code's destination
  • Teams that need scan statistics, bulk creation or campaign folders without moving to a paid platform
  • Buyers who want a terms-of-use page for the free generator, since the home page links none
Trade-offs

Friction report

Trade-offs to know before signing up.

  1. Time to value
The home page describes four steps (set content, customize, generate, download) and no account step; the paid platform asks you to create an account for its 14-day trial.
  2. Scale breakpoint
Static codes reach their limit when you need to change a destination or count scans; the paid platform's Starter plan lists 2 dynamic codes and 10,000 scans, and Advanced lists 50 dynamic codes.
  3. Walled garden
The Get Started and Free Sign Up buttons and eight blocks labelled Ad in the page's markup lead to the paid platform's sign-up (one download-panel variant to Bitly's), and the privacy link in the cookie banner opens Bitly's policy.

Bulk creation and foldersListed under the paid platform on the home page: bulk creation and editing, campaign foldersBulk creation: 100 on Advanced, 500 on Professional
Renewal and refundsNot applicableSubscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; the pricing FAQ asks for 30 days' notice before the end of the billing cycle, and the Bitly Terms of Service say fees are non-refundable except as required by law

From qrcode-monkey.com (home page and FAQ) and, for the paid platform, qr-code-generator.com's pricing page, terms and help center, checked 1 November 2026. The two sites are separate products and the free site prints no price for the paid one. 'Not read' means the pages used here do not say. The pricing FAQ and the terms word cancellation differently: the FAQ gives the 30-day notice, while the terms say a paid subscription can be cancelled at any time with no refund for early termination.

From qr-code-generator.com/pricing, checked 1 November 2026 and read again on 2 November 2026. Value added tax is not included. The page picks a price list from the visitor's country with a script that calls a geolocation service. A browser in Israel was shown the lower list. The higher list is the US list in the page's own price data, which the script applies to visitors in the United States and a few other countries; it was read from that data (the price attributes in the page's HTML and the country list in its pricing script) and was not displayed from a US connection. The page's data also holds euro and Brazilian-real lists. Advanced and Professional are billed annually only; Starter can be billed monthly. A price quoted on another site may come from a different list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is QRCode Monkey really free?

Yes, for what the generator itself does. QRCode Monkey's home page calls it the 100% free QR code generator, and its FAQ says the codes are static, do not expire, have no scan limit and can be used for whatever you want, commercial use included. What is not free is what the generator leaves out: static codes cannot be edited once printed, and the home page sends anyone who wants scan statistics or editing to a separate platform, QR Code Generator, which offers a 14-day trial and then paid plans (checked 1 November 2026).

How much does QRCode Monkey cost?

The generator has no price: the home page describes every code it creates as free. Two other offers carry one. The separate QR Code Generator platform, which the Get Started and Free Sign Up buttons open, has a 14-day trial and then Starter, Advanced and Professional plans, and its pricing page picks a price list from the visitor's country. The US list in the page's own price data, which its script applies to visitors in the United States, is $9.99 a month for Starter billed annually ($19.99 billed monthly), $18.99 for Advanced and $49.99 for Professional, both billed annually; it was read on 2 November 2026 from the price data in the pricing page's HTML and the script's country list, which includes the United States, and was not displayed from a US connection. A browser in Israel was shown $5.00, $12.50 and $37.50 for the same plans on that day. Value added tax is not included. The QR Code API is sold through RapidAPI, whose listing shows Basic at $9.00 a month for 200 requests, Pro at $19.00 for 1,000 and Ultra at $99.00 for 10,000, with per-request and bandwidth fees also listed on each plan (QR Code Generator prices checked 2 November 2026, RapidAPI listing checked 1 November 2026).

Why do Get Started and Free Sign Up open another website?

They open the sign-up page of QR Code Generator at app.qr-code-generator.com, a separate paid platform for dynamic codes, scan statistics, bulk creation and campaign folders. A notice in the home page, hidden until a code is created, says a static code is 100% free but that anyone who needs scan statistics, flexible editability and more features can look at 'our QR Code Generator for professionals'. QRCode Monkey's cookie policy names Bitly Europe GmbH of Berlin as the data controller for qrcode-monkey.com and calls its services part of the Bitly Connections Platform, and QR Code Generator's legal notice names the same company. The pages read do not say how QRCode Monkey GmbH, named in the imprint, is related to it. This page only reports where the buttons lead (checked 1 November 2026).

Do QRCode Monkey codes expire, and can they track scans?

Codes made with QRCode Monkey do not expire, but the free generator does not track scans. The FAQ says they work forever and have no scan limit because they are static, and the home page lists scan statistics and editing under the separate paid platform, whose help center describes static codes as ones that cannot be edited after printing and collect no scan statistics. On that platform, dynamic codes use a short URL, collect scan statistics and can be edited after printing. If its 14-day trial ends without an upgrade, dynamic codes are deactivated and point to a service page, static codes in the account keep working, and the account does not switch to a paid plan by itself (checked 1 November 2026).

Is QRCode Monkey safe to use?

Conversion Gems gives no safety verdict; here is what the pages document. The generator's address is qrcode-monkey.com, with a hyphen, the same domain as the contact email in its imprint. The FAQ says QRCode Monkey does not save or reuse your data and caches image files on its server for 24 hours. The imprint names QRCode Monkey GmbH in Berlin and, in German, disclaims liability for faulty codes and asks users to check a generated code before reuse, which the home page echoes by advising you to scan the preview. The Privacy Policy link in the site's cookie banner opens Bitly's policy, that banner offers analytics and targeted-ads settings, and the home page links no terms of use (checked 1 November 2026).

Is there a QRCode Monkey login?

Conversion Gems is an independent review site, not a sign-in page, so it cannot log you in. The free generator at qrcode-monkey.com shows no sign-in link on the page read. A QR Code Generator account, the paid platform the site's buttons lead to, signs in at login.qr-code-generator.com.
