About social media scheduling tools
Social media schedulers differ most in what they charge for. Buffer prices per connected channel, from $5/channel/mo on annual billing; Planable per workspace, from $33/workspace/mo; and Metricool, SocialBee and Postiz charge a flat monthly fee, from $20 (Metricool, billed annually) to $29. The category also includes creator tools that sit next to scheduling, such as Submagic for video captions and Supergrow for LinkedIn posts. 19 of the 42 tools have a free plan. Count your accounts, brands and approvers before comparing prices, because each pricing model rewards a different setup.
What to compare before you choose
Per channel, per workspace or flat
Per-channel pricing is cheap for a few accounts and steep for many: our review of Buffer, from $5/channel/mo, flags agencies with 10+ client accounts. Planable charges per workspace, from $33/workspace/mo, while flat plans such as Metricool's, from $20/mo billed annually, suit small agencies with 5–10 brands.
Networks and formats you post to
Check platform coverage against your real posting mix. Metricool is marked down for niche networks beyond the major ones, LinkedIn-first tools such as Supergrow skip other platforms, and video-heavy accounts may need a captioning tool such as Submagic alongside the scheduler.
Scheduling versus listening and inbox
Scheduling and listening are usually separate purchases. Our reviews list social listening as a gap for Buffer, FeedHive, Metricool, Planable and SocialBee, and SocialBee is also weak on DM and comment inbox management. If you need to monitor mentions or run a shared inbox, budget for a second tool.
